New Westmill-inspired exhibition launches

A show displaying artwork inspired by Westmill Wind Farm and Solar Park opens in Oxford from this weekend (Saturday 14th September).

The exhibition is the brainchild of Oxford Printmakers Co-operative (OPC), a fine art print workshop based in East Oxford, and is the result of a painting and drawing session at Westmill earlier this year, where the group also enjoyed a guided tour.

In 2023 OPC applied for a grant from Westmill Solar Co-operative to install secondary glazing and detstratification fans to improve the energy efficiency of its workshop, primarily to create better heat retentive measures. To recognise the financial support provided by Westmill Solar, OPC decided to centre its new exhibition around a theme called “Renew”, as a nod to renewable energy, with the work created during its summer visit to Westmill as the centrepiece.

Upon the announcement of the exhibition, OPC said: “Members who visited the amazing site and who were inspired by what they saw, photographed and drew, and have created an exciting body of new work. Westmill gave us a grant to install destratification fans at our workshop and this is our thank you.”

The exhibition opens at various times on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays and is at Christadelphian Hall, Tyndale Road, OX4 1JL. It runs until the 12th November.
