Open Day 2012

WeSET’s Open Day and Sustainable Energy Fair in June 2012 attracted close to 1,000 visitors to Westmill Wind Farm and Solar Park. A relaxed and fun event where people were able to learn about the impact of climate change and what they can do personally to reduce their own carbon footprint was partnered by Faringdon Ecoweek and Midcounties Co-operative.

  • Sustainable Energy Fair with over 20 stalls
  • Westmill Solar Co-op share offer launched by Ed Vaisey MP, Juliet Davenport CEO, Good Energy and Mike Wise, Mayor of Faringdon
  • Talks on how to reduce your carbon footprint by Professor John Twidell and the Oxfordshire Peoples Power Station by Barbara Hammond of the Low Carbon Hub
  • BBC Masterchef finalist Andrew (Koj) Kojima cooking with Pudding Pie Cookery School
  • Locally sourced food by Vowley Farm
  • Music from Rinky Dink - bike powered music system
  • Cycle events organised by Faringdon Ecoweek.
  • Children's activities including bike-powered smoothie makers, Orinoco scrap store and the Big Green Schools bus
  • Finals of 'The Switch' college-based film competition + outputs from a week of on-site classroom activities throughout the previous week.
