Make a sustainable difference in your community - two roles with the Westmill Sustainable Energy Trust (WeSET).

WeSET is a unique local charity, supported by the community owned Westmill Windfarm. WeSET supports renewable energy, arts and education projects and funds small grants. Over the last few years we've shown almost 9,000 visitors around the site through a combination of open days and on-site events. We demonstrate what a genuinely community owned low carbon future could look like and:

We have two part-time contract opportunities; a Project Officer and a Micro-Grid Local Coordinator, both are paid at 88/day + expenses. One day per week initially.

Project Officer

You will help us promote sustainable energy within the local area by organising our annual programme of events as well as working with schools, universities and other societies. You will write education and other materials, update our website and possibly make presentations in local schools.

Micro-grid Local Coordinator

We've been working with the Government's Technology Strategy Board in an exciting trial to see how more of our green electricity could be used locally, rather than being exported into the grid. Working with local organisations and residents, you will help set up public meetings in Watchfield and Shrivenham, identify residents who could take part in this pilot programme and, once individuals have been selected, working with the Microgrid partners to ensure everyone is kept up to date about how the project is developing.

Your skills and how to find our more

Both positions are part-time. You will have considerable flexibility in setting your own hours and deciding how to best deliver agreed outcomes. You must have a strong interest in renewable energy, be comfortable managing yourself and able to work with a board of volunteer trustees. You will need strong communication skills, be able to manage budgets and to drive to meetings around the area.

Please email your application to weset@mauleymedia.co.uk including a cover note explaining why you think you are suitable for the role together with a CV. You can call Fran Tattersall, WeSET trustee for an informal discussion about either role on 07775 683457. The closing date for applications is 10th November and we plan to interview candidates on 14th November.
